This week started out great! Jiilian, walking, skiing.
And then Boopie got sick. And I was stuck in the no-sleep-constant laundry that is a stomach bug. Vomit, new sheets, shower, new pjs. Repeat. 8 times in 9 hours. At one point we out her to bed in Baba's jammies and she used a feather bed cover as a blanket. Oh the joys of parenting!
So that pretty much shot my exercise or ability to cook properly for a few days!
But I did manage to run today for the first time since Christmas break - it felt good to get out of the house and get some fresh air!
I also got to 32 pushups! Yay! I don't want to be the a$$hole who complains about having a skinny body part but small arms and big body mean pushups are hard! I am so glad I am forcing myself to do them. I can feel a difference in my strength already!
Next week I am going to try and make 2 new healthy recipes. I will report back!
Gah, the child vomit, awful! So sorry! Yay for running though, and especially in this kind of crappy weather with practically no shoveled sidewalks! Congrats on the pushups! So awesome! It is true - body shape makes a huge difference (advantage/disadvantage depending on what it is) to certain exercises. I have a hard time with doing any kind of lever type exercise (arms or legs held straight out) because I am tall and long limbed and subsequently am under more torque!
ReplyDeleteI think 32 pushups is amazing. There are only a few women who I box with who can do over 25 and they have crazy upper bodies from boxing. I think you should be incredibly proud. I really think that being able to do a large number of anything is all just practice. Steve has way more strength than I do and he has a higher proportion of upper body strength than I do but I can do more push ups than him...why....because I practice all the time and he does them very rarely. The thing I like best about pushups is that you can do them anywhere and they are not a great arms exercise but back and abs and chest! Have you ever tried to do them after an ab workout....bah impossible!
ReplyDeleteSick child sounds absolutely terrible! I actually saw some post the other day about vomit clean up and I was like hmmm oh yah children do vomit and then I was like oh man can you imagine cleaning that up. I feel so sorry for you! The good news is that all the bending and running around must be a workout in and of itself. If you are anything like me, sleep deprived = sugar intake. I am really glad you got to go out for a run. It has been raining this week for the first time all year so I will have to wait until it stops (because I am a wuss).
